I found out I was pregnant two days ago,
but knew almost right away (just one of
those things). And sure enough, a week or
two later my breasts began to swell and
were (are) very sore and I started having
periods of nausea throughout the day. Not
to mention I've been eating like a horse!
So, the positive test didn't surprise me
at all. The conception was most definitely
a mistake. Alcohol and my fiancé staying
over was a bad combination. It happened on
Feb. 10th.
I am 24 and have a very demanding full
time job, am just finishing school, and
have a four year old son (divorced his
abusive dad). Not to mention I'm still
remodeling the house I bought last fall.
With life in general right now, I would
not be capable of being the mom a new baby
would deserve and demand. Don't
misunderstand that statement, because I am
a wonderful mother to my son, and he is my
world, but I cannot stretch that much
further.
I am not an abortion advocate, and I am
ashamed at the decision I have made.
However, it is an option women have, and
one that I have chosen. I am not entitled
to judge the next woman; nor they, me. I
have chosen the medicated option and am
fully informed of the differences between
the two, including the procedure, effects,
risks, complications, etc. And yes, I am
choosing it because it is the non-invasive
procedure. I know what to expect, and
although I am nervous, I am just looking
forward to being done, and continuing on
with life without this additional stress.
I am putting my story on this forum after
reading others%u2019 for the past two
days. I am hoping for advice on coping or
any other tidbits or experiences you may
have to offer. I would love to hear from
any of you. I am set in the medication
abortion, so please, do not try to push
your opinion on me if you disagree. I
realize that everyone has different
experiences, and that the negative are
generally the ones people like to share.
So I would love to hear anything positive.
I appreciate any responses and thank you
all in advance. I will also try to update
as the day arrives. Thanks again!

I work in abortion, and I am a nurse.
I have also has 3 abortions, and I prefer
surgical myself. Painless with IV
sedation, and only takes 3-5 minutes.
MEDICAL abortion has a higher failure rate
than surgical. NOT to scare you, but if
the medical abortion fails you would need
a surgical abortion.
Make sure you go back for your follow up!
That is the biggest advice I can give you,
follow up is necessary so they can do an
ultrasound to make sure your uterus is
clear.

I wanted to mention.. You will go into
labor with the cytotec/misoprostol
medication, that is how you expel the
pregnancy tissue..With the
prostaglandin..
ADVICE from ladies I have worked with who
had medical abortion:
-HEATING PAD is your friend
-Take painkillers before you take the
Misprostol, it makes it better.
-Eat something not so greasy before the
abortion. Eating seems to make most women
feel more comfortable, but nothing too
heavy.
-A back massage helps with cramping, so
some women like to buy massaging pillows.
-You WILL GUSH blood literally, so know to
expect that and don't get too freaked out.
This is one piece of advice that you don't
see much on the internet.

1. You never have to justify why you want
an abortion.
2. If you are "ashamed" of your decision,
you may want to seriously reconsider. I am
a prochoice advocate, but any individual
who makes a decision they are ashamed of
(whether it be to drink a bottle of wine
at one time, smoke marijuana, eat at
Wendy's, or have an abortion) needs to
address why they are ashamed and honestly
visit their intentions. It is a large and
permanent decision you will have to live
with the rest of your life. Please make
sure it is what you want and you can live
with your decision forever.
3. That being said, I have had an abortion
(surgical) and I am fine with my decision
before, during, and after.
4. I would reconsider the medical
abortion. Surgical was very quick,
relatively painless, had some cramping,
and took about five minutes. I was fully
recovered less than 24 hours later. I did
not have general anethesia.
5. I am sending you white light and well
wishes! I hope things go well for you!

I wanted to add..
PLEASE try not feel ashamed. No one is
perfect, birth control itself is not
perfect.
These things happen to the best of us, but
you have a choice, so you can decide what
is best for you. =)
We can fly to the moon, we can cure
disease, but we still cannot control out
fertility.

I have been there myself. I had an
abortion last May. I'm was 31 at the time,
and have been in a commited relationship
for the last almost 16 years. I chose to
have an abortion because it was just not
the right time for me. I have been
suffering from depression and anxiety
issues and my fiance and I were going thru
a rough patch. It was just not the right
time, emotionally, physically. No one
knows I had the abortion...no one.
You do not have to justify your reasons to
anyone. You are the one that controls your
life. You decide what is best for you. So
please know that it is ok. I had and still
have bouts of guilt but all in all in was
still the best decision for me at that
point in my life.
I just want you to know that you are not
alone. I hope you are doing ok and please
pm anytime.
Take care!

I'm back! Well, today I had my appointment
& it went well (aside from the
ridiculously long wait, and no, it wasn't
busy). I took the mifepristone at there
& was sent home with the rest of my
meds. The ultrasound confirmed that I am
just over 4 weeks. The physician and staff
was wonderful, and I am now confident I
made the right decision. Tomorrow after
work I will administer the misoprostol,
and I will give another update on Friday.
Thanks ladies!

So far, so good! I took an anti-emetic
& Tylenol #3 last evening after work,
around 5:30 or so. Then I took the
misoprostol around 6:30pm. I kept
expecting the pain and everything to get
really intense, but I've had menstrual
cramps much worse than what I experienced.
So I was a bit surprised at how mild they
were. The bleeding & clots were what I
expected and I even got to sleep
comfortably through the night. I feel
pretty darn good today….and am writing
this from work! So, we’ll see how it
continues to go, and how my follow-up
appointment in two weeks goes. Thanks
everyone!!

Just an update..... I had some moderate
bleeding for about a week or so. Very few
clots & very little cramping. My
normal menstrual cramps are far worse than
anything I experienced with this. The
bleeding just lessened until it
disappeared all together. I went to my
follow-up a couple of weeks afterwards,
and everything was just fine. In fact, my
pregnancy symptoms stopped almost
immediately and I even took a home test a
week and a half afterwards...which was
negative. All in all, it was definately
not a bad experience.
Keep in mind that it doesn't go this well
for everyone. I went into it expecting the
worst, and walked away following probably
one of the best case scenarios. I was very
early in my pregnancy, and I that has a
lot to do with how it turned out. I wish
anyone the best in there experiece and
just remember to be careful, be
responsible, and listen to the docs &
nurses at the clinic. Good Luck!
