37 weeks Posted: 03-24-08 11:40am
I turn 37 weeks this week and am having
cramps in my pelvic area, I am guessing
because the baby's head is becoming
engaged, I'm peeing like a racehorse every
15 - 20 minutes. Everynight when I lay
down to go to bed, my right hip seems like
it falls out of place and it only feels
better if I lay on it, which you aren't
supposed to lay on your right side so I
feel guilty if I do. My hip gets so bad
that I actually can't walk! My husband
has to come and help me out of bed and
take baby steps to get to the bathroom and
it usually hurts so bad that I cry, and
I'm a person with a very high tolerence
for pain.
Do any of you girls have any suggestions
for at least the hip pains?

Use a pillow between your legs and change
positions frequently.
Aww, the joys of the last few weeks. Not.

yea, I do both of those things already. I
also started using a heating pad for a
little while before I fall asleep. Seems
to help some. The pillow helps alot.
changing positions is actually veryyyy
painful, but I still try to do it.
thats what i do now i use a pillow mainly
on my right side but it seems to work
better when my dh is not in the bed

i don't think there's much that can be
done at this point. i think it's just part
of the discomforts of the end of
pregnancy.
i am in awful pain at night while trying
to sleep. rolling over is extremely
painful and sends pain shooting through my
whole crotch area, but i have to roll over
because my hips and knees hurt after
awhile. my mom tried to tell me there's
something wrong with me because there
should be no pain during pregnancy. yeah
right!
i sleep with a body pillow and i don't
know what i'd do without it. other than
that i just kind of suck it up and count
down the days until the end.
oh, and sleeping on your left side is best
but you can really sleep however is
comfortable. i just stopped sleeping on my
back a couple weeks ago because it's
finally too uncomfortable.

thanks bridget, I think we're just about
in the same boat. Painful! Last night was
better, I couldn't get out of the bathtub
though, I had to have my husband help lift
me up. Poor guy. Then later on I bent
down to get my cat, and got stuck and had
to have him come get me then too. I know
I'm not a pleasant person to be around at
the moment.
I think my problem is that I work too hard
after I get home from working at the
office. I work 10 hr days at work, and
then come home and make dinner, and clean
like a mad woman for like 4 hours! My
house is finally getting to where it looks
normal and not like to crazies live there.

now it wasn't the best sleep of my life
but it was a huge improvement! it would
have been even better if i hadn't messed
up my back yesterday (i just can't win). i
really wish we'd gotten it much sooner.
i've also been cleaning a lot. i want to
have my house spotless when i go in to the
hospital so i can come home to a clean
house. sounds nice, no? well i just
realized that it's going to be trashed
when i come home because my husband is the
one who makes all the mess and he'll still
be here with finn. i don't know why i'm
bothering...
when do you go on maternity leave?

I don't think we could be any closer in
gestational age. When is your due date? my
first one was April 14...
The past two nights have just been
HORRIBLE. Back pain galore. And I think
baby thinks my hips are were it needs to
come out, because it just feels like it's
clawing it's way through my right one.
Remember your hips are stretching to let
that baby through, so they are gonna start
hurting more. Plus you have excess fluid
everywhere, especially in your joints.
Elbows been popping more lately? There's
more space there and it's easier for your
joints to hurt. When they say your body
changes during pregnancy, they aren't
kidding, lol.
Good Luck! Did you get a pillow yet?!? I'd
die without mine, I just have it between
my legs and supporting my belly. I also
sleep on my right side because my bed
sucks and dips in the middle.

yea my due date is April 18th now. It was
the 12th, then the 14th, then the 16th, so
ya know sometime in April hopefully.
Yea, I have one of those contoured pillows
from when my husband had a back injury and
they doooo make a huge difference. I love
it. My husband doesn't ever use it so I
confiscated it.
You aren't kidding about the extra fluid!
My hands look like water balloons, I
couldn't get my dress shoes on this
morning, so I'm wearing my chucks with my
dress pants, my face looks like a blow
fish. Crazy.

Crazy.
is the swelling new? you should call your
doctor asap if your face is swollen. it's
a sign of preeclampsia.

I would let your dr know about the
swelling. With my first son I had toxemia
and I never told her about the swelling
and it caused me to go into early labor
and even if I didn't go into labor on my
own they would have had to induce me. It
is very bad for you and the baby!

yea it's a little new. I'll see my doctor
Friday. I basically look like Sherman on
the Nutty Professor, haha. It was swollen
last time I went, and he just said it was
water that was building up.

it could also be from weight gain. That's
what my doc chalks it up to. Definitely
call doc if your swelling or puffy in the
face, that's almost a sure sign of
preclampsia/toximia (sp?)
