Angelique Michelle!! Born via C-section at
12:54pm Wednesday, April 9th. 38wks
gestation, but still a hefty 8lbs 6oz,
20.5 inches long.
Birth Story!
Had an appointment Monday. BP was up,
protein in my urine (for the first time),
and was having bad headaches. They kept me
overnight and started an IV. My cervix did
not want to cooperate, so 9pm Tuesday,
they started Cytotec (sp?), 1/4 of a pill
every three hours. Because the meds they
were using for my BP weren't working, they
put me on a Magnesium Sulfite drip (which
is also used to delay labor
). That was some fun stuff, let me tell
you. After awhile, I got hot, I couldn't
keep my eyes open, and my BP was still
through the roof (didn't get below 150/100
before I delivered). So he suggested a
C-section. I, amazingly, was more than
happy at that point to go for it. They had
put a catheter in, which let to a
complaint because the nurse was so rough
with it and didn't tell me what she was
doing step by step (even though she
clearly said she would). So that stupid
thing was bothering me up til they took it
out. I'm drowsy and loopy from the drugs,
while they had me signing things and
warning me about things I can't remember.
So in a half hour, everything was set, and
Earl was dressed in the pretty scrubs they
gave him. They wheeled me in the OR and
gave me a spinal. For some reason they
gave me the smallest nurse to lean on. I
thought I was going to break her. But
again, I'm loopy and mumbling and that
spinal felt so weird! They laid me down,
Earl came in, they put the drape up and I
was complaining, wanting to move my legs.
I can't remember what the doctor was
saying, but I was getting SO mad (well, as
mad as a doped up woman can get, lol).
About two minutes later, she was crying. I
kept saying 'where's my baby?'. So they
finally showed her to me, I kissed her,
and completely passed out asleep. I woke
up to them moving me and lifting my leg.
Got to go, Write more later.

Congrats!
I remember you saying you didn't want to
have her on the 9th with no explanation.
Why?

Thank you! There's not much more to the
story, only I'm still pretty miserable and
in pain. It sucks cause I can hardly stand
let alone walk. So of course it's hard to
feed her without hurting my stomach. All I
can say is thank goodness for pumps, or
else I'd be freaking out cause I DO NOT
want to use formula (not saying anything
bad about it, just not for me)
I'm off to post pictures now!

Awww!! I LOVE HER NAME!!!
Rhonda, please don't set yourself up for
100% cooperation in breastfeeding. It'll
only cause you to get even more upset if
it doesn't work out like you expect!

I can't wait to see her pics!!

Wow CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I cannot beleive
she is already here. I remember when you
were posting belly pics at just 22 weeks!
Well I am so proud that you and baby are
fine and healthy....minus the huge gash in
your tummy...lol
sorry sick sense of humor...
But congrats again and cannot wait to see
some pics of this beautiful little girl!

Thank you!
It's not really a huge gash, lol. I still
can't believe how low it is, it's IN my
hair... I can't understand how he reached
her from clear down there!
I'm doing a little better with the breast
feeding, she just gets lazy after awhile
and moves her tongue, which HURTS. But I'm
still going at it, it's definitely getting
better!

That is her 'latch' - maybe you can get in
touch with someone from la leche league
and get some help on how to change that.
If it doesn't get better (I'm talking from
experience), your nipples can become
cracked and your breast feeding
relationship can be damaged. Make it as
easy as possible on yourself. After the
first few months it gets way way easier!
