That is her 'latch' - maybe you can get in
touch with someone from la leche league
and get some help on how to change that.
If it doesn't get better (I'm talking from
experience), your nipples can become
cracked and your breast feeding
relationship can be damaged. Make it as
easy as possible on yourself. After the
first few months it gets way way
easier!
It is so true, With my first child,
Nathan, it hurt like crazy for the first
month. He was latching incorrectly. I got
some help from a lactation specialist.
Brian never ever hurt. His latch was so
painless. Don't give up yet.

She's doing a lot better now. The hospital
gave me Lanolin and it is SO nice. And
because it is 100% the instructions say I
don't have to wipe it off. My mom is so
amazed by that fact, lol. Although my left
one has a sore on it (it had scabbed over,
and I had to pick it off with the help of
the cream, no milk was coming through), so
for the first 5 seconds or so it hurts,
but then its like she's not there, so I
know it's not her latch. I had a lactation
specialist at the hospital, and she blamed
it on Angelique being lazy, but like I
said, she's doing SO much better now.
