Can a low hemoglobin be the cause of a
fever failing to register? If so, how low
a hemoglobin?

No, hemoglobin has nothing to do with
fever.
Hemoglobin is the number of
red-blood-cells in your blood. It is
measured by drawing blood and looking
under a microscope.
A fever is your body being hotter than it
should be. It is measured in temperature.
If you are not hot, then you do not have a
fever. You test for a fever with a
thermometer. You normally stick it in your
mouth. After about 3 minutes you read the
results, or it beeps if it is electronic.
Fever and low hemoglobin can be related,
but having low hemoglobin will not affect
the temperature of a fever. If your body
is not hot, you do not have a fever,
period.

How can you not register a fever if your
white count is over 21,000

Because clearly your body is not HOT. I
don't know what else to say, but
apparently your body is not reacting to
increased white blood cell count with a
fever.
Normal human temperature is about 98
degrees. Anything above 100 is considered
a fever.

I guess then my question is - what can be
happening when you are septic, white cound
of 21,000, yet no fever is registering?

I mean when you have peritonotis which
develops into sepsis. White counts goes
to 28,000, still no fever.
