when did you start... Posted: 03-16-08 13:05pm
when did you start to decorate the baby's
room or start setting up stuff for the
baby? Im curious, we haven't gotten
anything yet, i have been looking in some
baby stores for things to get, im only
18weeks, and we are going to have a baby
shower as well, and get things ourselves
for our baby too but i was curious as to
when you started doing up your baby's
room, nesting is a big thing for most
women during pregnancy and it has been
something in the back of my mind for a few
days now, if anyone could help me out it
would be really appreciated.
thanks
well i will be 29 weeks this week and i
have not started yet but i am this month

so its really up to when you feel ready or
when your a little closer to the due
date?
or does it not really matter, as long as
its done before the baby comes and
everything is settled

luke still sleeps in our room so I guess
you could say I still haven't gotten his
room done and he is 7 months. We have
chosen to have him sleep in our room till
he is 12 months.
We are moving in a few months and then he
will have his own room so I will get stuff
then.

my baby is going to sleep in our room for
a while too, and then be moved into his or
her own room, so i guess i have all the
time to really plan on doing our baby's
room, it just has been bugging me to make
sure we have pretty much everything we
need ready.
O another thing, when did you start
packing your bag for the hospital when you
would deliver your baby, i know i have a
long way to think on planning that, but im
curious

I'll be 35wks Tuesday, and all we have is
a car seat... We don't have another room
for the baby, so we're really not worried
about having EVERYTHING you see in the
magazines and TV. My mom has a crib and
bassinet, but we can't get them until
after the baby is born because she kinda
lives 500 miles away. We are saving up
money right now so we can just kinda
splurge after s/he's born cause we don't
know what it is.

I bought the paint the day after I found
out I was preggo (yellow & dark
brown). I already decided that if it was
a boy or girl we were going with classic
pooh, so I got stuff here and there as
I've been going along. I'm 35 weeks and 3
days. This past weekend I painted the
baby's room, and am working again on some
touch-ups tonight when I get home from
work. Tomorrow my hubby is going to put
the last coat of polyurothane on the
floor, and then we'll start haning stuff
up and moving his stuff into the room.
I made a quilt out
of classic pooh material to match the room
and am currently also working on a glider
that I bought that needs redone. I wish
we would have started a little earlier
because now I feel a bit rushed, but it
is coming along anyways.

move him or her into their own room i dont
have to worry or rush anything

The closer you are to the due date, the
more tired you will feel, so any big jobs
I would suggest you do them sooner versus
later. The little things might be nice
distractions for later on in your
pregnancy when you are beginning to feel
impatient. Some parents won't do the
nursery until after baby is born because
of either wanting to know the gender or
for superstitious reasons. Some care
providers don't want women painting due to
the noxious smells from paint, but you
will need to decide that on your own. I
did the room at about 6 months along. I
remember so well because it was when i was
painting that i first noticed my boobs
were leaking a little. funny memories! I
did the nursery in yellow, dark blue and
light blue moons and stars theme so it was
gender neutral.

aww thats cute!
most likely if we do our nursery before
our baby is born my fiance and probably
brother in law would paint, they dont want
me around any paint fumes, my brother and
sister in law painted their bed room a
month or 2 ago, and they were like ok try
not going up stairs too maky times it
smells like paint! lol my sister in law
and i would do things like setting up
cribs and other things i would like to put
in the room.
IKEA has some cute ideas for baby
nurseries i was just there today!
any other big jobs my fiance would help me
with too
thanks for input
I started putting together my sons nursery
at about 5 months into my pregnancy. i had
all of the main nescesities at 6 months
along. my son is 2 months old now and
hardly ever sleeps in his room lol. i just
cant be away from him! =) for nesting...
that kicked in at about 5 months a tiny
bit, faded, then came back strong at 7
months and again at 8 1/2 months. there
after i started to pack my hospital bag as
i thought labor would come soon. at 8 1/2+
months i had my bag packed. ended up being
induced, son was 1 week over due and i
said ok to the induction because of the
risks i would face if i let labor come on
its own.
