womans menstrul period smell Posted: 03-12-08 02:51am
I am
in my mid thirties and have always been
able to tell when a woman is in her
menstrual cycle. I can tell because I can
smell it, and I do not mean anything rude
in saying that, but it is true.
I have had people test me to see if I
could actually tell by odour and they were
amazed. I have also been married for over
10 years and my wife can also confirm
this. It does not matter where I am, home,
work, the busy mall ect%u2026 it just does
not matter. There is no direct correlation
with individual familiarity even. Not even
perfume can mask the odour to the point
that I can not pick it up on some level.
Can anyone explain why this might be, I
have tried numerous times to figure out
why, but have had no luck.
It is not an issue for me because I am use
to it, but still very curious as to why.

i can smell it if they're er ... dirty and
quite close
although aye it doesn't really make
sense... i'm not sure why it even has a
smell, it's pretty much just blood right?
but i agree with you that it does

I don't get that any more...when I was a
kid and my elder sister hit pubirty, I
dreadded going into the bathroom cus it
would have this distinct smell when she's
having her period.
Guys...keep in mind that these sort of
things, are all signals of when a female
is ready to mate. It is just more evident
in the animal world as that is really the
only way the males can tell which one in
the herd is in heat. ( I can just imagine
a male Lion going...soo...sweatheart...you
ovulating or should I do it with cassey
tonight? )
I think most men's senses has dulled
towards it as it's not necissary for us to
still go around smelling chick's backsides
(Not to mention that the repurcussions of
that might maybe...ughm...hurt)...
As for my sister's smell...it's a well
known fact that siblings smell is off
putting to each other to avoid incest ...

Maybe it can be correlated to a female cat
being in heat? Can't male cats pick up on
an odour? I wouldn't be surprised if it
happens frequently among men.

Scientifically speaking, as long as a
woman isn't using contraception pills or
something, a woman naturally releases
hormones while she is ovulating. Guy's
are supposed to be attracted to this. You
may just be more able to detect the
hormones that are supposed to attract you
than other guys.

I think it is called fermones, not sure of
that spelling though and i agree, cept I
am pretty certain that a woman can't get
pregnant when they are having their
period, so that must be what sets us
apart? Animals mate when they are
bleeding, right?? But women can't get
pregnant when they have their period, I
could be wrong, just have heard that said
many of time and I know it in myself.

A woman's body while menstrating does put
out a very pungent odor. I have always
been able to pick that up. Even older
women on airplanes can be difficult to sit
next to while on their periods.
It may be that some of us are more
sensitive to smell than others. Or, that
others just ignore it.
Diseases also have a distinctive smell.
Cancel has a very strong, musty almost
sexual odor. Diabetes a clammy, sweet
smell.
I once spoke to a doctor about this and he
said that yes, he can smell diseases on
people, too.
As far as a woman being unable to conceive
whilst menstrating, I believe that is bad
information. Check out Sexual Health -
Women and there are some myth-debuncing
interesting facts.

Ok my opinion on this: we have that smell,
no matter how clean or dirty we are. No it
is not just blood, it is also the lining
of our uterus. And let me tell you...it
smells to me like afterbirth but not as
strong. My theory as to why we smell like
this is the pheromones, however its not to
indicate that we are "in heat" per se, but
instead, that we are capable of producing
offspring...tempting to guys eh? Lol
