Yaz and decreased sex drive Posted: 05-22-08 13:24pm
Okay, I understand this is the women's
section of the forum but you guys are the
only people who would know the answer to
this. My girlfriend and I are 19 and 20
years old, respectively and she has been
on birth control for over a year. She was
on ortho tri-cyclen and now shes on Yaz.
She used to have a really high sex drive
and everything was great, but when she
switched to Yaz she became irritable and
has ZERO sex drive. It's hurting our
relationship and I love her and don't want
that to happen. I like the protection
that birth control gives us, but the
dryness, lack of sexual desire and mood
problems are really driving us crazy. Any
thoughts?!

This is a very common problem. Why did she
switch from ortho to yaz? Maybe she should
consider switching back to ortho.
Hormones do crazy things to us!

she switched cause ortho tri-cyclen wasn't
regulating her periods like it was
supposed to, and she's been on yaz like
3.5-4 months? But i gotta go to work,
I'll read all the responses when i get
back thank you guys.

Well then it's not that she needs time to
adjust to the hormone levels in Yaz. By
this time, her body has had plenty of time
to adjust.
Apparently she needs to be on a lower dose
of hormones.
There are also birth control methods that
are hormone free.
Maybe she can get off the pill entirely
and try something like the nuva ring or an
implant.

I'd switch to something else. It takes a
while to find the right pill.
The ring was a great suggestion, or an IUD
is something I would recommend.
